Green Funerals

The Bluebell WoodAdam & Greenwood are fortunate to own ‘Herongate Wood‘ Woodland Cemetery, a gently rolling 25 acre meadow, offering far-reaching views across farmland and adjacent to mature woodland, full of bluebells and wood anemones.  These woods and meadows provide a green refuge for birds and wild flowers to flourish.  Young trees are planted across the area used for burials, extending the wood; a place of life, colour and birdsong.  Around you and those you love, a beautiful landscape will be created and preserved.  We have arranged that no grave will ever be re-used or disturbed;  those who lie here a will truly ‘Rest in Peace’.

The term ‘green burial’ means an eco-friendly burial in a wood or meadow so as to create and protect wildlife habitat.  Where families perfer cremation, rather than burial, we can arange for an unhurried service to be held in our Hall of Remembrance, followed by cremation at a local crematorium.  The ashes can then be interred at Herongate Wood.  We can also tailor make funerals for families who would like to have their final resting place at Herongate but would like the formalities of a traditional funeral.

There is no extra charge for use of the Service Hall to Adam & Greenwood families.  In fine weather, we offer open-air Funeral Services, on our terrace or beside our lovely pond.

In 2011,  we built a new administration office on site, called the Welcome Centre.  Staff are there every day 9.00am to 4.30pm apart from Sundays and Bank Holidays and are able to assist families with any queries they may have regarding funerals or about arrangements to book a Burial or Ashes plot.

Our Funeral Homes are open Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm
